Today was bittersweet, to say the least. I loaded up my VW and said goodbye to my family and friends to embark on an exciting new adventure - living full-time in Los Angeles. They say that getting there is half the battle, right? Well, my battle, or rather, journey officially began this morning with a road trip to Chicago, where my friend Diana and I will get our kicks on Route 66 all the way to Santa Monica, baby! Our 8-hour drive - which included a rather uneventful border crossing, thank goodness - got us into the windy city by early evening. We checked into the lovely Chicago Hilton before beelining it to Intelligentsia Coffee for a much needed caffeine boost. Feeling energized, we made our way to Avec for a divine dinner of Burrata Pizza with charred eggplant, cherry tomato confit, arugula and chili honey; and Seared Trout with red pepper almond romesco and rock shrimp escabeche. We capped off the evening with a stroll through Millennium Park, where we gazed at the awe-inspiring art installations. It's official…I love Chicago!!!
