With Pi Day celebrations taking place all over Los Angeles, I headed down to Redondo Beach where King Harbor Brewing Co. was hosting a unique event to commemorate the day in partnership with Studio City's popular Pi Bake Shop -- craft beer and pie pairings AND a pie eating contest, hands-free of course. While the pies weren't quite ready when I arrived, I enjoyed a tour of the boutique brewery and a hearty flight of their best craft brew, which was quite refreshing and delicious.
After the event, I took a drive up to Palos Verdes, a group of coastal cities on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in southwestern Los Angeles County. With million-dollar cliff-side mansions and views to match, it was worth the drive. My goal was to explore the luxurious Terranea Resort and hopefully catch sight of a few whales migrating north from Mexico (they pass right by the resort) but parking was impossible to find so I pulled over just up the road to take in the magnificent SoCal scenery.
