One of the items on my L.A. bucket list was to volunteer at a dog rescue. I love the idea of giving back when I travel and, given my love for animals and the uncertain future facing thousands of unwanted dogs in the L.A., I thought this was the perfect way for me to spend a day. I signed up to be a volunteer at Wags and Walks and before I knew it, I was off to my first event. Yesterday, I spent the afternoon assisting with a "puppy party," a unique fundraising initiative where companies, in this case Smashbox Studios, make a donation to the charity in exchange for having adoptable dogs come to the office for a few hours. For the company, it serves as a stress reliever for employees and for the rescue it generates awareness, much-needed funding and potential adoptions. So great!
